I am a musician, teacher, and a creative person. My passionate endeavors in the creation of original music, arrangement of current music, original writing and the connection of music to art fuel the fire of my life’s heart.

I feel that my path is not just to live in truth and authenticity, but to help other people find their truth, their unique voice, and their creative expression. I am committed to being of service to anyone needing inspiration to find their passion, joy and true soul’s heart. I offer friendship, love, inspiration and hope through the medium of music, musical theater, music instruction of all types and one on one musical coaching.

I teach group classes, meet-ups, workshops and private music lessons for students of all ages, levels and interests in Wheat Ridge and the Front Range, as I have for over twenty years, and am a master private music teacher at the Forte Academy of Music in both Littleton and Centennial working since 2012 with students of all ages, including adults. In addition, I teach as an Orff trained preschool music teacher for the Thomas Learning Centers and a licensed substitute music teacher with additional current full-time alternative licensing eligibility in K-12 music for the state of Colorado.

I have experience teaching toddler through 8th year music for the Montessori School of Evergreen from 2007-2016 and 3 years experience teaching in parochial schools. I have presented music workshops, directed ensemble groups with SJYO and MSJW, coached orchestra sectionals at both FRYS and LHS and adjudicated the Jefferson County solo and ensemble festivals since moving to Colorado in 2000.

It’s been an honor and a pleasure to direct student concerts with over one thousand people in attendance, and to put on shows and performances of all kinds with rave reviews each year. My students have successfully auditioned for all-county and honor orchestras, earned superior ratings at solo and ensemble festivals and performed in local youth orchestras as principle chairs, in chamber groups and at recitals. In addition, my students have created original musical compositions, arrangements and recorded their music a well as performed at local venues. Some music students have gone on to DSA, The Quincy Band at Kent Denver, CU Boulder or Metro State as music majors and earned college scholarships at nationally recognized institutions.

My teaching style includes using tools such as Love and Logic, Socratic Method, Reality Therapy and the Montessori Philosophy.  My joy is to help students discover how to learn independently, and develop self-esteem as they discover the joy of being themselves. I believe in continued growth as an educator, musician and human being. My teaching philosophy focuses on using music and the creative arts as an outlet for expression, personal growth and greater awareness of the connectivity and engagement. My current students and their families call me inspiring, passionate and creative.

My playing experience includes performing for audiences of over seven thousand people. In classical music, I’ve played in concert halls with international soloists Frank Spinosa, Colin Carr, Ursala Oppens, Faye Robinson, and Sam Pilafian. I recorded as a section violinist for under the baton of Dr. Timothy Russell on the CD Perceptions for the D’Note Classics label, and have played with the Grand Canyon Chamber Orchestra, The Mesa Chamber Orchestra, the Arizona State University Symphony, the Mexican Marimbas de Comitán and the Arizona Lyric Opera Theater. On jazz concert stages, I’ve soloed alongside Ira Sullivan, Michael Pagán, Tenia Nelson, Tyson Ailshie, Adam Revell and Serena Eads. In folk and pop genres, I’ve played with songwriters John Common and J.T. Nolan, in addition to recording with Cincinnati-Based roots songwriter Jack Redell. Currently, I lead and write for my own creative project “Swimming in Stars” in addition to my freelance work as a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist in the Denver area.

My hobbies include cooking delicious vegetarian food from scratch, Chinese Shao-Lin Kung Fu (I am a first degree black belt, and have a wooden man named “Jing Shen” at home as a practicing partner) and enjoying the beauty of nature, outdoors in all its forms.

I have a beautiful daughter, Ava who is the light of my life. She turned 6 in January of 2017, and attends Compass Montessori School in Golden. Through the eyes of my child, the universe helps me find beauty, grace and change for which I am eternally grateful.
